The Iowa Academy of Family Physicians employs a full-time lobbyist who represents the interests of family practice within the state legislature. The Legislative & Governmental Affairs committee oversee the Allies in Health program which links physicians with legislators and a Key Contact program which alerts family physicians to contact their legislators about important legislative issues which have impact on family medicine.
The American Academy lobbies all levels of government and payors to work for fair reimbursement for family physicians. The Academy also works to reduce paperwork and regulations associated with practicing family physicians.
